Sermon Notes

Matthew 25:14-30

“It doesn’t matter how much you have in the Kingdom, it matters what you do with what you have.” ~Asil Treblig

To have the right response to your ability in the Kingdom you must understand…

1. All we have has been entrusted to us.

· By Jesus, the owner of all things

· Because He is temporarily away

2. Our response should be based on our ability.

· Jesus knows us intimately

· He knows what we can and can’t do

3. Our response should be immediate.

· Jesus’ return is imminent

· The opportunities may not always be there

4. Our response should be visible.

· Saving faith is working faith

· Taking advantage of all our abilities through God given opportunities over time

5. Our response will be judged.

· Based on our ability

· According to our response

Matthew 25:1-13

“The big question is not whether Jesus is coming back or not, it’s will you be ready to meet Him when He does!” ~Asil Treblig

Ready or not He will come…

1. Jesus Christ will return.

· Physically.

· As He promised.

2. At an unknown hour.

· It will be unexpected.

· Known only by the Father.

3. And we must be ready.

· Born again and filled with the Spirit.

· Patiently persevering.

4. If not, there are no second chances.

· There is no plan B.

· We have been warned.

5. So, let’s be watchful.

GOING DEEPER

  1. Remember a time when you were excited about going on a trip or doing something special. How did you prepare?

  2. Read John 14:1-4. What does this say about Jesus going away?

  3. Now Read John 14:5-7. What further insight can we gain from these verses?

  4. Read Matthew 24:36-44. What do these verses say about the second coming of Christ and how we can be prepared?

  5. Are you ready to meet Jesus in the clouds? Why or why not?
