Read Hebrews 4:14-5:10

“If we let Christ go before us, we don’t have to worry about who comes after us" ~Asil Treblig

We have a great High Priest…

1. Who has gone into Heaven. (v.14)

  • Who made atonement for us.

  • Who sat down at God’s right hand.

  • Who actively intercedes for us.

2. Who can sympathize with us. (v.15)

  • In our weaknesses

  • In our temptations.

3. Who can provide for our needs. (v.16)

  • Confident mercy.

  • Confident grace.

4. Who has met all the requirements. (5:1-10)

  • Appointed by God.

  • Sympathetic.

  • Sacrificing.


Going Deeper
  1. Remember a time when someone was an advocate for you or stood up for you. How did it make you feel?

  2. Read 1John 2:1,2. What do these verses tell us about Jesus?

  3. Read Roman 8:28-39. What do these verses say about those who love God?

  4. What do the above verses say about what God has done and will continue to do for us?

  5. Considering what Christ has done and continues to do how do these verses motivate you?

Read Hebrews 4:1-13


“To be totally secure, blessed, and at peace with God, to trust Him for and in all things – that is the rest of God.” ~Asil Treblig

1. His rest is vital. (vv.1-2a)

· Be careful and don’t fall short of it.

· There is no excuse.

· There was no excuse.

2. His rest is available. (vv. 2b-3)

· By grace….

· Through faith.

3. His rest is our rest. (vv.4-10)

· God rested in His complete work.

· We rest in Christ’s completed work.

4. His rest is confirmation. (vv.12,13)

· In light of God’s Word.

· Before God Himself.
