Sermon Notes

Read Matthew 14:22-33

“You can’t walk on water if you don’t step out of the boat” ~John Ortberg

Grace: God’s riches at Christ’s expense. All we need from God for the abundant and righteous life… now!

Doubt: To be uncertain or skeptical about; to be undecided. (Kind of the opposite of faith.)

When grace hits doubt there is…

  1. Faith to hear the call of Jesus.

  2. Faith to walk with Jesus.

  3. Faith to persevere for Jesus.

  4. Faith to receive help from Jesus.

  5. Faith to worship Jesus.

GOING DEEPER
  1. Remember a time when you knew Jesus was calling you to do something but you doubted Him. How did that feel… what happened?

  2. Read James 1:6-8. What do these verses say may be a result of doubt?

  3. Read Matthew 21:21. What does this verse say is the opposite of doubt, and what can it do?

  4. Read Isaiah 41:10. Right down in your own words what God promises us.

  5. In what area/s of your faith are you doubting God? How can you better trust Him now?

(Various Scriptures)

“Fulfilling promises is not something that God does… it’s a part of who He is” ~Asil Treblig
