Sermon Notes

Read Mark 8:14-21)

“Understanding begins with knowledge and ends with application, which never ends this side of eternity.” Asil Treblig

Do you still not understand…

  1. Who I truly am?

  2. What I came to do?

  3. Why I am the only one to do it?

  4. How I want you to be different than them?

· Purity not conformity

· Resting not striving

· Being not doing

· Grace-full not lawful

Confession

God, I confess there are things I don’t understand about you, and by faith, I praise you for the unknown. But I want to show off to the world the things you have made known to me that I do understand. May my life be a living, transparent example of who you are - a God of love and grace, a God who saves and restores, a God of forgiveness and hope. May I represent you well to all who are looking. Amen!

Read Matthew 14:22-36

“To live in the realm of the impossible is to live in the Kingdom.” ~Asil Treblig

To limit our doubt and experience the impossible, we must…

  1. Remember who calls us.

  2. Remember who comes to us.

  3. Remember who comforts us.

  4. Remember who commands us.

  5. Remember who calms us.

  6. Remember who cares for us.

Confession

God, I confess I am comfortable with the explainable and am drawn to those paths that are familiar to me. It is easy to trust you for yesterday and in ways I have seen you work. But God, help me to expand my sphere of faith and step out and meet you in the realm of the impossible and to trust you for things I could never do on my own, and to see your hand of grace doing the unexplainable.
