Jesus Is Greater: A Better Sacrifice

Read Hebrews 10:1-18

“Anyone can give without sacrifice, but not everyone will sacrifice just to give.” ~Unknown

Jesus brought a better sacrifice because…

1. A better sacrifice was needed. (1-4)

  • The law was only a shadow of reality.

  • The law was not able to clear our conscience.

  • The law was a constant reminder of sin.

2. A better sacrifice was provided. (5-9)

  • It was provided by Christ.

  • It was provided willingly.

  • It was provided freely.

3. A better sacrifice was all-sufficient. (10-18)

  • All-sufficient sanctification.

  • All-sufficient confirmation.

  • All-sufficient satisfaction.

Going Deeper
  1. Remember a time when what you had to accomplish something wasn’t enough. What did you do?

  2. Read 2 Cor.5:20,21. What did Christ do for us and how did we benefit?

  3. Read Romans 5:6-8. What further insight is gained from these passages?

  4. Read Romans 12:1,2. What does it mean to offer yourself as a living sacrifice? What about not conforming to the patterns of this world?

  5. How are you sacrificing yourself to God? Would the world think you are sacrificing?
