Read 1 Kings 17:7-24

“Why wish upon a star when you can trust in the one who created it?” ~Elizabeth Elliot

The widow at Zeraphath modeled godly character because…

  1. She was open to God’s leading. (v.9)

  2. She was compassionate towards others. (v.11)

  3. She was willing to sacrifice for others. (v.12)

  4. She chose faith over fear. (vv.13-15)

  5. She trusted day by day. (v.16)

GOING DEEPER
  1. Remember someone in your life who exhibited godly character. Why did it make a difference in your life?

  2. Read 2 Peter 1:5-9. What do these verses say about virtuous character?

  3. Read Romans 5:3,4. What do these verses tell us about character and how we get it?

  4. Read Proverbs 10:9 and 11:3. What further insight can we get from these verses?

  5. In what areas do you need to grow in Christ like character. What can you do about it?What is stopping you?

  5. He didn't rush in with who He was.

  6. He didn’t judge her.

  7. His mission was her.

  8. He shared words of knowledge to encourage not shame.

  9. He showed concern for her well-being both physical and spiritual.

  10. He cared about her personal lifestyle.

  11. Her cared about her family.
