Luke 4:1-12


“Jesus was tempted because God wanted us to understand that Christ had not come to earth as Israel’s Conquering King but as her Suffering Servant” ~Asil Treblig


God showed us through Christ’s temptation who we are in him…

1. Our Temptation: I am what I do.

Our Response: I am a child of God.


“We live by the full and complete counsel of God.”


2. Our Temptation: I am what I have.

Our response: I am a child of God.


“We live in covenant with God who owns everything.”


3. Our Temptation: I am what others think.

Our response: I am a child of God.


“We love a God who couldn’t be more proud of us.”



GOING DEEPER
  1. Remember a time when you felt really tempted to sin. What happened?

  2. Read James 1:13-15. What do these verses say about temptation and its progression?

  3. Read 1 Corinthians 10:13. What further insights on temptation do we get from this verse?

  4. Read Galatians 6:1; and Hebrews 4:15. What further insight on temptation can be gained from these verses?

  5. How are you being tempted now? What will you do about it?
